August month sales of top 5 Sub-4m SUVs

Sub compact SUV space has been fiercely competitive in Indian market. With the interest of customers shifting towards the SUVs, the Automobile manufacturers are coming up with indigenous strategies and X factors to capture the market. The august month sales touched 60,000 mark which is most selling segment right now in India.

Lets check out the biggest contenders in sub compact space in 2022.

1. Maruti Suzuki Brezza

First in the list comes Maruti Suzuki Brezza. The most selling SUV in this space recently upgraded to next generation with more premium interiors and exteriors. With more than 75000 bookings done in few days of its launch, August month sales clocked 15,193 and its no sooner backing on sales chart.

Under the hood, same K-series Gasoline engine with 103bhp amd 138Nm torque mated with 5 speed manual/ 6 speed AT. Comes with 9 inch infotainment with Apple Carplay and Android auto.

Price range: 7.84lakh-11.49lakh(Ex-showroom)

Crash test has not done yet for the upgraded model but experts expecting a 5star rating considering the safety features.



2. Tata Nexon

Second comes the TATA Nexon, the biggest contender for Brezza. The stands up front boldly with muscular design and performance. The sales in the month of August pretty much closer to Brezza with 15,095. It comes up with 1.2litre turbo charged revotron petrol engine which produces max power of 120bhp and 170Nm torque and a 1.5 litre revotorq diesel engine produces 110bhp power and 260Nm Torque both mated with manual/AMT options.

Price range: 7.59lakh-14.08lakh(Ex-showroom)

Its the first 5star rated car in India by global NCAP.



3. Hyundai Venue

With its midlife facelift, The Venue is not much far away from the top two selling 11,240 cars in August. It comes with 2 petrol options and a diesel engine. 

Interestingly, the 1.0 litre turbo charged engine produces 120bhp power and 172Nm torque which is 10bhp more than Nexon and XUV 300 petrol versions. The other option is a 1.2 litre 4 cylinder engine pumping up 83bhp and 115Nm.

Diesel version comes with 1.4 litre 4 cylinder unit producing 90bhp power and 220Nm torque. Its the same unit used in Creta and Verna. All the engines mated with 6 speed manual/ 6 speed DCT.

Price range: 7.53lakh-12.72lakh(Ex-showroom)


4.Kia Sonet

Kia is constantly gaining the attention of the buyers with its models loaded with premium interiors and connected tech. Sonet being the best selling model along with Seltos right from its launch in 2020. August month figures are 7838 units.

Stance of the car is bulky and from the front which adds a better road presence. Under the hood again the same petrol engines as its cousin Venue producing identical power figures with 7 speed DCT comes only with 1.0 litre turbo charged engine. 
And two diesel options with 1.5 CRDI 4 cylinder unit producing 100bhp power and 240Nm torque with manual and 115bhp power with 250Nm torque with AT.

Price range: 7.49lakh-13.99lakh(Ex-showroom)



5. Mahindra XUV300

The most underrated SUV of the segment is derived from Ssangyong Tivoli. its the widest and most powerful car in the segment. The sales figures for the August stands at 4322 units.

Coming with two engine options, 1.2 litre turbo petrol clocking 108.62bhp power and 200Nm of torque mated with 6 speed manual and AT. The diesel engine comes with 1.5 litre turbo charged engine with 115bhp and 300Nm torque with 6speed manual and AT. It has the least boot space in its segment.

Price range: 8.41lakh-14.07lakh(Ex-showroom)

It scored 5 star rating in GNCAP crash test and one of the safest cars in India. Expecting facelift by first quarter of 2023.
